Nine Breaking and Enterings in Last Week

Since October 14th, the Police Department has taken nine reports of breaking and entering. There have been five reports of breaking and entering to motor vehicles and four reports of breaking and entering into homes. The vehicle incidents occurred at the following locations: Main Street, State Street (Puffers Pond), and three on Meadow Street (Brandywine Apartments). The four homes are on Bay Road, Fearing Street, Belchertown Road (Rolling Green Apartments), and North Pleasant Street. Residents are reminded to keep their vehicles locked and valuables out of sight. Residents should also be vigilant about securing the doors to their homes.

Any similar M.O. on the B&E's to the four homes? Late at night, or broad daylight? Kicked in door or broken windows? Or did the homeowner just forget to lock their door?

Growing up on High Street we never locked our door (ahh, the good old days.)

Of the 4 house breaks:
1 was daytime/forced entry,
2 were nighttime/no-force,
1 was night-time/forced. Unfortunately for him, the night-time/forced entry dropped his wallet in all the excitement. He'll be arrested soon.

This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping to see in the Amherst PD blog! Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Dropped his wallet…I love it! Definitely Jay Leno material.

Kinda like the idiot kid who participated in the overnight theft of 75 to 100 "No More Overrides" signs on private property that dropped his cell phone and a half full pack of cigarettes near the mangled remains of a wire sign holder. Only in Amherst!
