Columbus Day Weekend Activity Report

Weekend Activity Report For Friday, October 10, 2008 through Monday, October 13, 2008

The Columbus Day holiday weekend is typically the first reprieve that the department has from the activity that comes with the beginning of the school year. As anyone who attempted to venture over the Coolidge Bridge this Friday will attest, there was a mass exodus from the Amherst area this weekend. Even with the depleted population, the department responded to, or initiated, 226 calls for service with 17 individuals being either arrested or issued a criminal summons for various charges.

A breakdown of these charges follows (some individuals face more than one charge):

Well I hope everybody got plenty of rest during the reprieve. Because as I’m sure you know this weekend is Homecoming with Umass football at McGuirk Stadium.

And if Umass wins, and the weather is as perfect as it has been lately…
